'South Park' Season 19 Update: Premiere Date Confirmed Via Twitter, Character Plot Revealed [Rumors]

Good news for fans of the all-time hit comedy series, "South Park," as the all-new season 19 premieres soon, confirms South Park's official Twitter account.

South Park, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, will continue to unleash a lot of laughs as new episodes are promised to air starting September 16. Arguably the longest-running primetime scripted series, fans are sure to stay close and keep watch as it comes. The good news comes as the creators reach a new deal with Comedy Central to extend the series by three seasons and 30 episodes, which means that the series will go through season 23 (and 302 episodes), as reported by the South Park website. As announced by Comedy Central President Michele Ganeless, the series will continue to produce new and original episodes until 2019. Parker and Stone will still do the writing, editing, and producing of the series since it started. South Park expressed this news through a tweet saying, "Dude, sweet! South Park has officially been renewed through 2019!!"

According to a report from Screen Crush, we can expect the series to have only 10 episodes, in contrast to the former series' run of 14 (with the past divide of two sevens) which put a strain on the makers.

"Why did we do seven and seven to begin with?" Stone said to New York Times. "We just sort of made that up. And we are switching to 10 for the same reason. It just sounded like a good number, and we won't break up the year so we can more easily do other stuff."

The South Park website states that in a separate deal, Hulu gets to cover all new episodes and seasons. The deal with Hulu and South Park Digital Studios (a joint venture with Parker, Stone, and Viacom) makes Hulu the exclusive streaming home of the entire South Park library, and means that Hulu will also house the new and upcoming seasons and episode.

"'South Park' remains the bedrock of Comedy Central and we are thrilled that new episodes will continue to entertain audiences for years to come," said Ganeless. "The series remains as urgent and relevant now as the day it premiered and at nearly 20 seasons in it continues to draw generations of new fans."

South Park revolves around the fictional everyday life of Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick; as they live in their equally fictional home, South Park.

South Park has received many awards, including Emmy and Peabody awards. It has also been named "One of the All-Time Greatest TV Shows" by Entertainment Weekly, and one of the "All-TIME 100 TV Shows" by TIME.

South Park Season 19 premieres September 16.
