First Lady Melania Trump: How New FLOTUS Will Be An Asset To A Donald Trump Presidency

Following Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 U.S. Elections, his third wife Melania Trump will also be joining him when he takes up residence at the White House in January 2017. A foreign-born former model who is mom to a 10-year-old boy, what can Americans expect from First Lady Melania Trump? What kind of an asset will she be in a Donald Trump presidency?

Melania Trump, nee Melania Knauss, was born on April 26, 1970 in Slovenia. She supposedly quit college to become a model, which landed over spots on Vogue and GQ. She met Donald Trump in 1998 and married him in 2005, according to US Weekly.

First Lady Melania Trump might have a different background than outgoing First Lady Michelle Obama but they do actually share something in common. The president-elect and his wife have a son together, Barron, 10. Melania Trump is quite hands-on with him as a parent, just like Michelle Obama is with her daughters.

"My husband is traveling all the time," Melania Trump said, according to People. "Barron needs somebody as a parent, so I am with him all the time," she added.

With this pronouncement, those within the Trump circle believe that First Lady Melania Trump will put Barron as her first priority over becoming FLOTUS. She is not expected to be involved in policy decisions and will be content to help Donald Trump away from the public eye.

The Telegraph reports Melania Trump has expressed that she will be performing traditional first lady tasks, such as with interior design and choosing china patters for state dinners. But one cause she would support is to look into cyberbullying, especially on how it impacts today's digitally-savvy kids. "We need to guide them and teach them about social media because I see a lot of negativity on it and we need to help them," she told Anderson Cooper in a televised interview.

According to USA Today, Melania Trump is fluent in French, Serbian and German, as well as her native language Slovenian. She could help her husband when meeting with foreign dignitaries. Learn more about First Lady Melania Trump in the video below.
