How Latino Voters Felt In The Election And How Will They Face This New Administration In 2017

Two-Thirds of Latino voters were on Hillary Clinton's side. However, Trump still won. The four million Latino voters did not matter a lot during the election.

Now Americans have cast votes already and finally, know who is taking the oath by January next year. Whether Trump won or not, one important highlight in the recent election was how dedicated some of the voters were.

Latino voters, for example, take to the polls in L.A. and patiently waited for the results to come. One old senior man even stood outside a recreation center in Lincoln Heights as her sample ballot was scanned for the last time before voting.

Anna Castillo, 65, was still uncertain about how she would vote on state propositions but later made up her mind, LA Times reported. Castillo find both not great, "Trump is worse than Clinton," she said though in Spanish. "The senior citizen thinks she is choosing between a racist and an official who has made many errors in the past. But she had to choose.

Castillo is one of the citizens of this country who disagrees with Trump's plan of building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico. These worries her because of her job as a caretaker. She is one of the people who may be affected because of Trump's new policies, which may compromise the family's future.

There are 56.6 million Hispanics in the U.S. according to statistics. Many of them come to the U.S. to study and work, and Trump becomes a threat to these Latino families.

The approximately 2.6 million voters against Trump, no matter how small this minority group is, were considered among the most hurt after the election. Latinos are intensely benefited from immigration and trade in the U.S. Then, on the other hand, have also contributed to the prosperity of their neighbors. New York Times described their grief as perhaps the worst grief of all.

What will happen to Latinos next year? No one still knows exactly. Trump is not an evil man, though. He has a heart too. Latinos perhaps should be more active.
