Jennifer Lawrence's "The Hunger Games" role is the epitome of a woman going against a government that represses its citizens and it seems that the actress is using her position in order to let Americans have hope despite the victory of Donald Trump. Many celebrities have expressed their support for Hillary Clinton and Jennifer Lawrence penned an open letter over the win of Donald Trump.
The Oscar winner wrote the open letter and was published by Vice, Deadline reported. She asked the readers if the victory is the stark reality and that it does not matter how hard one works or how qualified one is because at the end of the day, if you are not a man, you will not be able to win the elections. She added that the United States was founded on immigration but today, she believes that the only people "that feel safe, that their rights are recognized and respected are white men."
She pointed out in her letter that women are worried now because they know that the president-elect Donald Trump is biased against women and that no matter how hard women work or how much they learn, there will always be a glass ceiling.
Despite the emotional portion of Jennifer Lawrence's letter questioning what happened, she said that the only thing she could advise is that people have to have hope and not let the victory of the GOP nominee defeat the people. In fact, Jennifer Lawrence asked her readers to be enraged with the win of Donald Trump and let it be used as a fire that one did not have before.
Jennifer Lawrence went on to say that she wants to be positive and support the democracy of the United States but there is no one to blame. She also said there should be no riots or protests as Americans should strongly think about what to do next because the past can no longer be changed. She also said that people are allowed to be sad but they should not feel defeated.
E! News reported that Jennifer Lawrence advised the people to do something about the planet on how to protect it since Donald Trump expressed that he will not use the funding for climate change as he will divert the money for building infrastructures.
President-elect Donald Trump has not yet commented on this. What do you think of Jennifer Lawrence's essay? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
