The 2016 NBA champs Cleveland Cavaliers visited the White House and was hosted by president Barack Obama last Thursday, Nov. 10. Obama praised the Cavs' work ethic and determination for climbing up a 3-1 deficit in the finals which no team in the history of any sports has ever won and eventually this was the final bow for what the champs and the fans have accomplished last June, via cleveland.com.
Obama said that the team and the whole organization knew what it means for bringing the first ever NBA title in the city of Cleveland. Celebrating the Cavs' title by hosting them in the White House. Obama stated that the Cleveland was always Believeland.
In front of a crowd of more than 100 on the White House grounds and most of the players of the 2016 NBA champion stood behind him, Obama delivered a speech and thanked the Cavs for winning the title against the 73-win Golden State Warriors who broke the 72-win record by the '96 Chicago team. The president is known for being a Chicago Bulls fan and said that the win meant that his 96' Bulls was the greatest team that was ever assembled in the history of the NBA, according to Aol.
The 2016 NBA finals was also a rematch of the 2015 championship where the Warriors won then the Cavs reversed the decision last June bringing the first professional sports championship to Cleveland since 1964. Four-time NBA MVP LeBron James lead the way for the Cavs by knocking off the Warriors from a 3-1 deficit.
During the NBA champs' visit to the White House, president Obama applauded Cavs' JR Smith for wearing a t-shirt. According to another Cavs' player, Kevin Love, JR Smith almost gave the president one of his tattoo-print shirts but the idea did not push thru. Just imagine the thought of the president of the United States wearing JR's tattooed shirt is simply priceless, by Bleacher Report.
