Understanding Parkinson's Disease: Taking A Deeper Look At The Degenerative Condition

Parkinson disease is one of the most dreaded conditions that highly affect the brain's neurotransmitter that impacts the body's physical mobility. There is no found cure for Parkinson's disease yet but health care experts are already coming up with the solution to alleviate and at least delay the effects of the condition.

People diagnosed with Parkinson's disease are expected to have a shorter life expectancy but the condition itself, however, is not fatal. People who were diagnosed with Parkinson's disease shared that they often feel weary because of their uncontrollable body movements. Parkinson's disease affects the brain where it no longer has the capacity to produce dopamine.

Dopamine is a form of neurotransmitter that influences the individual's physical mobility. Parkinson's disease is degenerative, which means that it worsens as it progressed. It does not only affect the person's mobility but it also affects the person's blood pressure, heart rate and the regular reflex functions.

Most individuals are often diagnosed with Parkinson's disease by the time they'd reach 60 but some came across early diagnosis where they are struck with the disease as early as 20 years old. It was recently revealed that a new treatment strategy could potentially cut off Parkinson's disease.

Science Daily reports that the researchers were able to pinpoint a protein that allows a "toxic natural aggregate to spread from cell to cell." Along with their discovery, is a way to block the toxic protein's capacity to evolve, the researchers, however, needs to take a deeper look into the study as it is yet to progress.

There are several celebrities and public persona that are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. One of the most recent individuals who passed away was Janet Reno, the first female US attorney general. She died at the age of 78 earlier this month.
