"Tom Clancy's The Division" downloadable content, "The Division: Survival," sounds like a promising offer from its developer, Massive Ubisoft. While its exact release date is yet to be announced by the company, much of the pertinent details regarding the latest "The Division" DLC has been released, including its gameplay.
"The Division: Survival" speaks for itself. The expansion content essentially dares agents of The Division to make it to the Dark Zone, Manhattan's central district, per Kotaku. Players should get through several complexities as they are dispatched out in the open without any gears nor skills. "The Division: Survival" will also be utilizing the same Manhattan map from the main game.
In order to live, players must survive hunger, thirst, subzero weather condition and the epidemic. Ordinary gears such as clothing in the main game will be categorized in "The Division: Survival." For instance, a certain coat or sweater gives off a certain degree of warmth, which will be helpful in surviving the two whole hours of mission towards the Dark Zone.
"The Division: Survival" DLC will also give a PvP or PvE option for players. Also, in one session, up to 24 players are matched to play and survive within the perimeter of Manhattan. The outer vicinity of the city is plagued with low-strength enemies but as a player goes towards the center, foes are becoming more and more formidable.
Players' ultimate goal is to get into the Dark Zone and retrieve an antiviral drug. For whoever gets closest to the center, the player gets a substantial amount of loot.
As early as October, Parent Herald reported that "The Division: Survival" will come immediately after the launch of "Tom Clancy's The Division" 1.4 Patch. It was also further speculated that it will be run through a public test server just like the latest "Tom Clancy's The Division" patch.
Game Spot reports that "The Division: Survival" is available for those who purchased a season's pass before Nov. 3 and will come officially for free with "Tom Clancy's The Division" 1.5 update. A beta version is available through Uplay's PTS. "The Division: Survival" beta version for Steam is yet to be announced.
