The "Back to the Future" star, Michael J. Fox was seen on Saturday sharing the stage with Dave Matthews in New York for a Parkinson's charity event. The event that was graced by many celebrities was for the benefit of Michael J. Fox' Foundation which furthers research on Parkinson's disease.
This is not the first time the actor jammed with a known artist on stage because, in July, Fox joined Coldplay in a stop in New Jersey during their tour. And as sources say, Michael J. Fox looked as stunning on stage as ever when he played with Dave Matthews at Saturday's event.
The event was co-chaired by Michael J Fox' wife Tracy Pollan, Katie Couric and husband John Molner along with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively reports Entertainment Tonight. Ryan Reynolds, whose father also had Parkinson's disease has been a strong supporter for researches on Parkinson's since 2008.
Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1991 but announced it to public in 1998. According to People, it was also in that same year where he committed himself to help with the studies of Parkinson's Diseases.
On an interview, Michael J. Fox was asked how he handled his diagnosis to which the actor replied that he knew he had to make adjustments but at first he was clueless of what to adjust to. When he accepted it and realized that he was in a position where he knew he can do something to help others and make a difference, that's when he made a decision to get on with it and make it happen.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation has done so much in terms of research and has raised so much money but until now, the cure has yet to be discovered. In the same note, it is also heartbreaking to see that as enthusiastic and active as Michael J. Fox is to go to events for the cause, the disease has already taken its toll on his body. And as sources have seen, the situation of the actor has worsened recently, causing him to have a hard time getting into a car.
