It has been more than 50 years of bringing joy to the entertainment industry. Finally, Jackie Chan has an Oscar and everybody watched in awe.
It was at the Eight Annual Governors Awards when Jackie Chan was granted an honorary Oscar Saturday night. The audience at the Hollywood and Highland Center, Los Angeles, witnessed the memorable event as the 62-year-old star received the honorary Oscar award.
The honorary Oscar award for Jackie Chan was presented by Michelle Yeoh, Tom Hanks and Chris Tucker, who made a hilarious introduction before the Oscar award was given.
Tom Hanks said, "Great acting comes in many different forms, but if you are an actor you always know it when you see it. Jackie Chan's films have been incredibly serious, sometimes gruesomely so, as well as incredibly hilarious to the point pop delighting millions of people around the globe."
The actor continued with his introduction by comparing Jackie Chan to Buster Keaton and John Wayne. He said that Jackie Chan was able to achieve something that the two icons have not achieved so far. He mentioned about Jackie Chan's signature bloopers seen during the closing credits of his movies - something that the two legends have not done before.
During the Oscar, Michelle Yeoh also went on stage to present why Jackie Chan deserves the honorary Oscar. Then, co-star Chris Tucker to finally give the Oscar award to Jackie Chan.
Jackie Chan accepted his honorary Oscars award, calling it as a "dream." He then shared one of his childhood memories with his parents as they would watch Oscars altogether.
He remembered a funny remark that his father said about him being granted an Oscars, but he only replied with "Ha, ha, ha. Dad, I only make comedy action movies."
He ended his Oscars speech by saying that he after 56 years and making more than 200 movies, he finally has an Oscar.
"I want to thank you, Hong Kong, such an incredible city, my hometown, my hood, who make me. China, my country, I am proud to be Chinese. Thank you, Hollywood, for all of those years teaching me so many things, and also make me a little bit famous. I'm just honored to be here," Jackie Chan said.
After Oscars, he tweeted how happy he was with his Oscars. He posted, "So honored and happy and lost for words!"
