In spite of the poor financial performance in the second quarter of 2015 and a whopping $10B dollar drop in market value, Samsung is resolved to redeem its sales through the latest models of its flagship devices -- the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+.
Tech geeks and gadget hoarders alike have had quite a challenge scouring the internet for photos, but a recent leak released by Evan Blass seems to be an official press render of the two smartphones.
On a related note, it has been an exciting week for the tech community. According to Forbes, journalists have received an invitation for another "Unpacked" event in New York on August 13.
Samsung also confirmed speculations when it took to Twitter to officially announce the event. A link of the save-the-date page, which would Livestream the August 13 event, has also been provided on their Twitter page.
Rumour has it that it would also be the momentous unveiling of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5, of which photos have recently leaked online. Forbes' Jay McGregor reveals, though, that the design is not far from the Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy S6. "What's immediately clear is that the Note 5 is almost identical to the Galaxy S6, save for the S Pen. Everything else -the curved glass rear panel, the metal frame- echoes Samsung's new premium design philosophy that it's implementing across its range."
Specifications-wise, a number of online reports believe that the Galaxy Note 5 will feature a large 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a high QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. An in-house octa-core Exynos processor under the hood and 4GB of RAM coupled with a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with TouchWiz on the software side, and a 4,000 mAh battery will complete the package.
Bloomberg says that Samsung will be "adjusting" the prices of devices that shall be released in the future in light of its most recent financial downward spiral. The company is also expected to manufacture more lower-end gadgets, which would trump the number of new products.
In order to turn the market demand to their advantage, the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+ will be not be launching at the same time and territory. Korea Herald also reports that marketing priority is given to S6 edge+ and countries where the Galaxy Note 5 will be released is yet to be announced.
