In the seventh episode of "How To Get Away With Murder" Season 3, Wes was revealed to be alive in the flash forward, seemingly talking to the authorities and working with them about how Annalise (Viola Davis) can be taken down. Besides Wes, Oliver (Conrad Ricamora), Bonnie (Liza Weil) Laurel (Karla Sousa), Michaela (Aja Naomi King), Asher (Matt McGorry) and Connor (Jack Falahee) also appeared in each episodes' flash forwards leading up to the reveal.

Leaving Nate (Billy Brown) and Frank (Charlie Webber) as the only two characters not seen in the flash forward, viewers had assumed that it would be one of them who would be blown up inside the house. However, in the closing minutes of the ninth episode of "How To Get Away With Murder Season 3," both of them were revealed to be alive as well.

So who was the person under the sheet? None other than the group's precious puppy Wes! As it turns out, his meeting with the two detectives shown two episodes ago actually happened hours earlier before Annalise's house was engulfed in flames that evening. He had received a voice message from his boss and teacher about meeting him in their house and sneaks out of the police station before he could be given a new deal. By episode's end, Nate visits Annalise, who has been locked up and charged with arson and murder, and he tells her that Wes actually died before the fire took place.

Series creator Pete Nowalk said in an interview with TV Guide that the decision to kill off Wes was a "very painful decision" on his part. He revealed that the last six episodes of the season will answer the questions as to what led to Wes' untimely demise.

For his part, Enoch hopes that the viewers are pissed about the fate of his character because it would mean that people are "invested in the story," according to E! Online, and it won't be the last that fans will see Wes on their screens.

The tenth episode of "How To Get Away With Murder Season 3" will air on Jan. 19 on ABC.
