Super Mario Run To Hit iOS On December 15; Android Version Next In Line? [DETAILS HERE]

Who doesn't love Super Mario? Even if you're really not into games, you might have probably heard of the exploits of the Italian plumber from somewhere. At the recently concluded Apple Event in San Francisco, legendary game creator Shigeru Miyamoto announced that Mario will be invading the iOS for the first time.

CNet has it that Super Mario Run will be an Apple exclusive, at least for the time being. It will be available on December 15 on the iPhone and iPad for $9.99, although prices will vary in other countries. Kotaku however, opined that an Android version of Super Mario Run is in the works, and will hit devices in 2017.

Nintendo Mobile posted a couple of videos of the new Super Mario game just to give gamers a nostalgic yet modern feel of the gameplay. The graphics are, of course, designed for mobile, and it gives Mario a new perspective. CNet likened Super Mario Run to Flappy Birds: Mario runs to the right automatically. To make Mario jump, users need to tap the screen once or hold to make him jump higher.

Super Mario Run is pretty much like the original version, but more straightforward. There are no complex missions, and Mario will still have to do what he does best: collect coins, avoid obstacles, reach the flagpole and rescue Princess Peach in the end. The new mobile game, however, has three game modes. The World Tour is the basic, where gamers need to collect as many coins as they can and complete the level before the time runs out.

The second is Toad Rally. Nintendo said that users need to "challenge the play data of other players" and try to impress as many toads into joining them. In other words, players need to lure toads by doing flips and jumps. The more toads that's on your side, the better.

The Mushroom Kingdom is the third and last game mode in Super Mario Run. Here, gamers can use coins and toads that they have collected to unlock items and build their own kingdom. Of course, the standard pipes, bricks, flowers and boxes labeled with question marks are available.
