Tim Duncan's jersey retirement will happen soon. The San Antonio Spurs announced on Wednesday that the Hall of Famer Tim Duncan will be honored on Dec. 18 after the New Orleans Pelicans' game in the league's special postgame ceremony.
Tim Duncan retired last July after 19 great seasons in the NBA. USA Today noted that he will be the eighth player in the franchise to raise his jersey number to the AT&T Center in line with former NBA players Bruce Bowen, George Gervin, Sean Elliot, Avery Johnson, Johnny Moore, James Silas and David Robinson.
Also dubbed as the "Big Fundamental," Duncan has five championships, two MVP awards and three NBA Finals MVPs. Duncan also led the Spurs in a win-lose ratio of 1072-438 regular season record and so far the best record in the league.
The retiree is the only player to start and win an NBA championship three separate decades. He also finished his career with a 15 All-NBA Team which is tied for the most in the NBA and 15 All-Defensive Team and the most of all time in NBA.
Tim Duncan is the third player in the league's history to achieve 1,000 career wins and the first player to reach 1,000 with a single team. Talking about loyalty that is what to be benchmark, and Duncan's the Spurs' all-time leader in regular season points with 26,496, rebounds, 15,091, blocks, 3,020, minutes of 47, 368 and games played with 1,392.
It is no doubt that Duncan is one the best players in NBA. It will be sad to see Tim Duncan retire his jersey but we are lucky enough to see such greatness. Let us know your thoughts on this news on the comment section.
