It has been years since the last time we heard news about "Iron Man", the film that started all Marvel films. With speculations about the series ending, fans are not much worried rather they are more concerned about Robert Downey Jr. stepping down as the billionaire philanthropist Tony Stark to take the "Sherlock Holmes 3" role of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Neither MCU nor RDJ confirmed the speculations but according to reports, Robert Downey Jr. will decline the role of Iron Man in the upcoming Marvel films as he puts his focus on the "Sherlock Holmes 3" character.
According to reports, a pool of writers was chosen to create the synopsis and plot of "Sherlock Holmes 3". Warner Bros. along with Village Roadshow and Downey's team have chosen "Guardians of the Galaxy" writer Nicole Perlman, "Rogue One" writer Gary Whitta, "Tomb Raider" writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet, "Baywatch's" Justin Malen, and "Snowden's" Kieran Fitzgerald.
It is apparent that Robert Downey Jr. first committed to Marvel Cinematic Universe. RDJ still has to wrap up the "Avengers" film before moving forward to film his "Sherlock Holmes" role. "Iron Man" Fans can still expect Robert Downey Jr. to appear as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the upcoming Marvel movie "Avengers: Infinity War" which started its production in February.
"Iron Man" is not initially part of Marvel's phase 3 movie lineup. Marvel Studio still has to confirm the fate of the famous animated movie sequel.
"Iron Man" movie was first released in 2008, followed in 2010 and 2013. RDJ supporters and "Iron Man" fans should wait for Marvel's official announcement regarding the movie's fate.
