Good news for "Souls" fans, the Gamescom trailer for "Dark Soul 3" is finally out. It was first shown at Microsoft's Xbox conference, according to PC Gamer. The two-minute-and-15-second teaser promises a game filled with thrill, action and never-ending battle. The video shows several horrible opponents, looming skull and splendid ruins that project a chaotic encounter between the two forces.
One can see that the hero pierced a corpse with his flaming sword and it yields a bonfire, players can do the same when the game is released. Moreover, it also shows the speedy short bow that hopes to move range combat away from poor sniping.
With its horrifying and loathsome bosses and eerie locales, the trailer shows a good combination of the "Souls" series with a healthy dose from "Bloodborne." Although "Bloodborne" is not related to the game or not an official "Soul" installment, it is often associated to the latter.
In fact, according to GameSpot, the new gameplay trailer combat will "take cues from "Bloodborne."
In the report, the game's new "ready stance" that gives player an alternate combat once activated, which is expected to be featured in the "Dark Souls" series, is similar to "Bloodborne's" weapon modify mechanic. Ready stance attacks vary between weapon. For instance, the longsword has the "forward moving swipe" ability while the greatsword can do an "upward slash." It also features a faster backstep—a "Bloodborne" favorite with options for swifter and more graceful attacks.
An earlier report from GamesRadar has the same observation, "There are traces of Bloodborne in the combat, too. While the new hero is no Hunter, he certainly seems more agile than before. The backstep in particular has been sped up, and a longsword is swung more quickly too, with no apparent damage penalty (though enemy health bars — along with the entire HUD — have been disabled here, just as they were at last year's Bloodborne unveiling)."
According EuroGamer, the action in this latest franchise of the "Souls" series appears to be faster than the previous "Souls." However, it is still similar to its earlier versions. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki, who helmed "Demon's Souls," "Dark Souls" and "Bloodborne," returns to helm this one after not getting himself involved with "Dark Souls 2."
Gamespot reports that "Dark Souls 3" is set for release next year on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
