Police Arrests Father Who Allegedly Killed Wife, Took Daughter And Left Her At NY Terminal

Reports were saying that a man was accused of killing his wife in Connecticut. He also took his daughter to New York City that later resulted to the abandonment of the child at a terminal. The man was said to be located by officials and was arrested.

The man was identified as 32-year-old Elmer Gomez Ruano. He was arrested in Brooklyn, New York on Friday near a homeless shelter. U.S. Marshals reportedly took Ruano into custody. New York Police Department Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce confirmed in a statement that Ruano is now in custody but noted, "We're not going to tell you how we got him, but we got him."

The daughter, five years old, was said to be abandoned at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. She was found on the second floor public space at the Port Authority Bus Terminal last week on Monday. They took her to the police station and found out that her father allegedly left her there, People reported. She then led officials to her home in Stamford, Connecticut where the body of her mother, Dionicia Bautista-Cano, was discovered.

Accordingly, Bautista-Cano and Ruano recently reunited after they were estranged for a time. Bautista-Cano, was living in New Jersey before reuniting with Ruano. News.com.au reported the couple and some guests were in their home to celebrate their reunion.

Police believe that there was a dispute after guests left the party and Bautista-Cano might have been killed in the early hours of Sunday last week. It was not stated what the dispute might have been about or how she was killed.

Meanwhile, the child is now in the custody of New York City's children services. Officials believe her mental well-being will be affected and that she probably thinks that her mother is still coming back. Fortunately, the girl is not harmed by her father. Ruano, on the other hand, is not awaiting extradition while charges are yet to be filed yet.
