'Spiderman' 2017 Spoilers & Plot: Villain Reported, Could This Character Be Spiderman's Enemy In The Reboot? [Rumors]

The "Spiderman" franchise could be getting a new villain for its reboot.

According to Heroic Hollywood, Karen Moy, Vice President for Creative Affairs for Sony, which is producing the movie, has bought a copy of "Kraven's Last Hunt" on the e-commerce site, Amazon. Buying books is apparently a usual practice at Sony, as Moy has also done this for her former boss, Amy Pascal. The said information is apparently revealed by an insider source to the website.

The paperback, which is part of the "Spiderman" comic book series, features Kraven the Hunter, who hunts down the webbed superhero, and then shoots and buries him. Kraven will later don Peter Parker's costume and pretend he's Spiderman to brutally apprehend criminals, but he will face off with the real Spiderman later in the story.

"Kraven's Last Hunt" has been voted by comic book fans as the greatest Spiderman story ever told, as per a list in Comic Book Resources.

First appearing in 1964, the character of Kraven the Hunter has been described as "the world's greatest hunter," per Cinema Blend. The news outlet also notes that Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel, has once expressed that the studio do not want to use any of the villains who have already appeared in the past "Spiderman" movies. Going by this, the condition seems to apply to Kraven the Hunter's character, as he has not been featured in the earlier movies that starred Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield.

The studio, however, has not yet made any official announcements on what the storyline will be for the reboot.

Back in February, Variety confirmed that another "SpiderMan" reboot will be running in theaters in 2017 with Marvel Studios co-producing the film along with Sony Pictures Entertainment. Months after that, the same news outlet also confirmed that Tom Holland had been casted to play the lead role of Peter Parker.

Holland immediately got to work as the webbed superhero. He recently filmed his scenes for "Captain America: Civil War," where he was set to make a cameo appearance, according to Vulture. The said movie will also hit theaters in 2017.

"We hear good things," said one of the writer-directors, Jonathan Goldstein, to the news outlet regarding Holland's footage. "We might even get to look at the Spidey suit, which is exciting," he adds.

John Francis Daley and Goldstein will be writing and directing the "Spiderman" reboot, and they say that nothing is certain of any of the other characters just yet.
