'Overwatch' Graphic Novel Cancellation: "First Strike" Shelved; Here's Why Blizzard Opted To Cancel The Graphic Novel

The developer of "First Strike", Blizzard Entertainment, announced on their blog post that they cancelled the "Overwatch" Graphic Novel. Instead, they are taking the story in a different way.

The developer has done a lot for "First Strike" conceptions according to Gamespot. Actually, there are more developments that have been created on its universe and stories. However, the core story is still the same.

There are some changes and expansions that were realized after the public watched the first day of the event of "Overwatch". Michael Chu from Blizzard disclosed that the developer is planning to make a story of the early adventures of "Overwatch" main characters.

But, as of now, there is no exact date when it will be done. He also said how grateful he is for all the support of "Overwatch" Fans. The enthusiasm and passion they are showing towards "Overwatch" is overwhelming.

Blizzard has numerous ideas for stories that will dig deeper in the world of "Overwatch" and its Universe. "First Strike" is supposed to be released tomorrow, Nov. 22, 2016. The launch date was announced last July and it is labelled as a brand new entry in the canon of "Overwatch".

The sequential artwork telling the story of its original "Overwatch" strike team is actually composed of 100 pages. The story is pencilled by Ludo Lullabi and written by Mickey Neilson.

Blizzard made an announcement last March that they will dig deeper into the stories of its heroes in "Overwatch". They will include animated shorts, graphic novel and digital comics according to PC gamer.

"First Strike" features the tale of Soldier:76, Reaper, Reinhardt and Torbjorn in the time of Omnic Crisis. The Omnic crisis took place years ago before the event of the game. Unfortunately, Blizzard disclosed that changes in plan have occurred so the novel has been stopped. It furthermore comes to the knowledge of Blizzard that fans of "Overwatch" wanted to know about the team and the story behind the development so they are trying hard to satisfy them.
