In 1971, a furious John Lennon wrote a letter to Paul McCartney and his wife Linda shortly after the greatest band "The Beatles" Broke up. 45 years later Lennon's angry letter has been sold at an auction for nearly $30,000. The two-page typed draft with handwritten notations of John Lennon was sold by Boston-Based RR Auction on Thursday to a collector in Dallas that requested to be anonymous.

The letter captured the intense rivalry between the stars of "The Beatles," Lennon and McCartney. Lennon criticized his former bandmate Paul McCartney and his wife Linda for their treatment towards him and his wife, Yoko Ono. It is said to be a response to Linda's criticism regarding Lennon's departure from "The Beatles" band and not announcing it publicly as reported by BBC.

"I was wondering what middle-aged cranky Beatle fan wrote it," "The Beatles" legend said in the first paragraph referring to a letter he received. "I resisted looking at the last page to find out-I kept thinking who is it-Queenie? Stuart's mother?-Clive Epstein's wife?-Alan Williams?-What the hell-it's Linda!" Using strong words he said "you and the rest of my 'kind and unselfish' friends laid on Yoko and me, since we've been together" citing on the trouble they have caused.

Finally commenting on the rock legend's silent departure from the band. "PAUL and Beatles manager Allen Klein both spent the day persuading me it was better not to say anything - asking me not to say anything because it would 'hurt the Beatles'" he wrote. "So get that into your petty little perversion of a mind, Mrs. McCartney"

However, in 2009, Lennon said in an interview that what he wrote in the letter was not his true feelings but just the effect of the drugs he was taking. Other Items that were sold at the auction includes Miles Davis' personal notebook ($12,251), signed "The Beatles" program from 1963 ($16,541) and Stevie Vaughan's guitar ($18,520).
