First Time Mother Gets Mad At Debenhams For Their Breastfeeding Room

The first-time mother from West Bridgford was so agitated about the breastfeeding section of Debenhams. She posted on her Instagram account the picture of a small cubicle as if made for a toilet section with a little plastic chair on it.

In an article published by Mirror, 35-year-old Sarah Matthews, was beyond disappointed in Debenhams regarding the way they created their breastfeeding station. It was so horrific for her that she likened it to a toilet cubicle that would make any mothers uncomfortable while breastfeeding their child. For her, she'd rather just breastfeed her child in public than do it in the establishment's station made for such activity.

The angry mom also pointed out that the breastfeeding station was exactly situated right next to a toilet cubicle made for people with disability. It is not even near any other toilet cubicle but that. The hassle that a breastfeeding mom would have to go through just plucked her last nerve, especially when she had to ask for the key from the staff so that she could use the facility.

According to Nottingham Post, the Debenhams made a statement regarding what Sarah posted on Instagram and said that their establishment is doing their best to give their clients that family-friendly vibe. The spokesperson of the store even said that they know how to deal with this since their store manager is also a mother who is currently breastfeeding.

They explained that the chair was meant to be there for mothers who would love to sit during the process in case they find themselves tired. It is not specific for breastfeeding, but it is for the purpose of resting. Mothers are allowed to breastfeed anywhere in their establishment whether it is in a store or a restaurant or even at a cafe.

Everyone is welcome to give the store some feedback. What do you think about this issue? Share your experiences with breastfeeding or your thoughts regarding the subject in the box below.
