This early, more and more information are coming out for the 2017 flagship smartphone of Apple, iPhone 8. Just recently, one of the most reliable sources of leaks and information about Apple products has released new information about iPhone 8, this time it's about the specification of the cameras for the two bigger iPhone 8 smartphones.
Following the availability for pre-order of iPhone 7 back in September, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that the next Apple smartphone will follow the trend of having dual cameras on high-end phones. But this time, two of the rumored three iPhones will have the said new dual camera features.
"We believe the focus of the dual-camera upgrade will be equipping telephoto CCM with OIS CCM, so as to significantly enhance optical and digital zoom quality," Kuo said as posted by MacRumors.com. Remember that with iPhone 7's dual camera; only the wide-angle CCM is equipped with OIS Voice Coil Motor (VCM) while telephoto comes with general VCM.
Dual Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Telefoto Upgrade
Kuo revealed the plans Apple have for the dual camera feature of iPhone 8. Aside from integrating this feature on the two bigger iPhones (5.1- or 5.2-inch OLED Display and 5.5-inch LCD Display), there will be a major upgrade on the components of the dual camera. Here's what Kuo believes to be the major feature of iPhone 8 as revealed by MacRumors.com:
"We expect the telephoto lens will be redesigned to support OIS in the telephoto CCM, with challenges likely coming from: (1) the need to increase the image circle of the telephoto lens, which will lead to longer calibration time and a more complex assembly processes; and (2) a redesign of the telephoto lens, as an increased image circle will result in degraded photo quality around the corners."
Increase in lens, increase in optical zoom range - this could also translate into bigger storage device since bigger files are expected. Stay tuned for more updates on Apple's iPhone 8.
