"Sex and the City" actress Kristin Davis is a single mother who has 5-year-old adopted daughter. Gemma Rose came to her life in 2011 and because of her African-American origin, the actress is now more aware than ever about her role as a mom. She thought that she would need to learn how to shoot a gun to protect her child.
Kristin Davis calls being an adoptive parent of an African-American child an "intense learning curve" since she grew up with a white privileged background. After the results of the elections, her desire to protect Gemma grew fiercer.
"My initial thoughts on Wednesday morning (Nov. 9) was that I wanted to move to the woods and learn to shoot a gun," she said, according to People. "It literally makes no sense but the fear of what is happening and how am I going to make sure that no one hurts my child," she explained.
Kristin Davis is a staunch Democrat and has supported Hillary Clinton in the last election. In fact, she hosted a fund-raiser for the candidate last September, as seen on her Facebook page. Right now, the "Sex and the City" star prefers to live in a bubble, away from "any Trump people."
As a mom of a person of color, she makes Gemma aware that her skin color and curly black hair are some of her beautiful qualities. She makes it a point to always affirm this to her daughter, who apparently marvels at tennis star Serena Williams.
Adoption has been Kristin Davis' plan long before Gemma arrived. But one of the things that prevented her from doing this before was the idea of being a single parent, according to Us Weekly. She was 46-years-old when she adopted Gemma.
Meanwhile, as to the talks of a revival of "Sex and the City," the actress said that she's on board the idea, should it happen. "I feel in my insides we're not done. I feel like there's more," Kristin Davis said, per KTIC Radio.
