The number of internet hackers is growing at a fast rate just as technology is advancing. Now that Christmas is approaching many gadgets will be available as presents for family and friends.
The annual McAfee Most Hackable Holiday Gift List from Intel Security, only have of those who received a gadget take the proper measures to secure it from hackers. Around 96 percent do know it is important to protect it from threats, 47 percent don't know if they are using the right precautions to avoid the threats.
According to Tech Spot, this survey showed that a lot of people do know that is it important to protect their devices but only few know how to protect it with the emerging connected devices such as drones, children toys, virtual reality and pet gifts.
A report revealed five of the most hackable holiday gifts this year. The most vulnerable of them are laptops and PCs because malicious applications are not restricted to these Windows-based devices. Second to these are smartphone and tablets; with the survey that 52 percent of people are going to buy it for Christmas present.
The third most hackable Christmas gift are media players and streaming sticks. The fourth will be the notoriously IoT home devices and lastly will be the drones, where the hackers could manipulate the GPS signals and completely control it.
The Intel Security provides some tips on avoiding these hackers and malicious programs. Tips are always use a good security software or antivirus programs, try to avoid using publics Wi-Fi, all gadgets must be up to date especially the antivirus, use a strong password on your accounts and also never ever click some links that just pop-outs and all those malicious ones.
