Bryan Cranston 'Sneaky Pete' Teaser & News: 'Breaking Bad' Star Plays TV Villain Again; When Will It Air?

Bryan Cranston is returning to the small screen three years after "Breaking Bad" ended. The award-winning actor has a recurring role in "Sneaky Pete," which is set to begin its run on the streaming platform Amazon Prime in January 2017.

Bryan Cranston created "Sneaky Pete" with David Shore in 2014, originally for CBS. But when the network passed on it, Amazon Prime took interest and a sneak peek of the pilot episode was released to its subscribers for free in August 2015, as per its official site.

The rest of the show's episode, which has 10 in total, will be made available on the platform in January. It is expected that an official announcement of the exact release will be made this December, Digital Trends reports.

Bryan Cranston also served as director of "Sneaky Pete" and was spotted filming in New York this August, Daily Mail reports. The show had some delays in production when David Shore dropped out of the project as showrunner. Graham Yost took over the reins.

"Sneaky Pete" stars Giovanni Ribisi as ex-convict and con man Marius who takes the identity of his cellmate, Pete, once he got of prison. Bryan Cranston plays Vince, the crime boss whom Marius owes money to and the reason why he's in hiding with a different identity.

As Pete, Marius lives with grandparents Audrey (Margo Martindale) and Otto (Peter Gerety). They manage a bail bond business in "Sneaky Pete" and have asked him to stay to help maintain it.

As Pete, he also has to work with his cousin Julia (Marin Ireland), whom Marius seems attracted to. They have no idea that he is not the family member they know in "Sneaky Pete." The last time they saw the real Pete was 20 years ago.

Meanwhile, Vince has Marius' brother Eddie (Michael Drayer) as his hostage. At the end of the pilot episode in "Sneaky Pete," Vince threatens Marius he's going to chop off his brother's fingers one per week if he doesn't get paid back.

"The greatness of Bryan Cranston is that he is playing a bad guy but he absolutely doesn't seem to be the bad guy," Graham Yost told an audience during a "Sneaky Pete" panel, according to Forbes. "We were really encouraged to make his character as rich and well- motivated as we could," he added.
