Samsung Galaxy S7 Smells Competition With Apple's 'Jet Black' iPhone 7

Samsung is planning to win back their customers by upgrading the colors of their smartphones. Reports have it that Coral Blue S7 has already surpassed the daily sales of iPhone S7. Is the strategy color effective?

It is not just the Black Friday rage making waves, tech giant rivals Apple and Samsung too. According to a report from Mirror News, jet black iPhone 7 users have complained regarding its exterior gets easily scuffed. Despite all these drawbacks, the iPhone 7 jet black was and perhaps, still a massive hit the moment it landed the stores early this year.

Talking about proving the unsubstantial news to be the other way around, photos of the said Samsung S7 and S7 Edge in glossy black has been spreading throughout Chinese social media Weibo. In the hopes to fill Samsung´s sales loss due to their smartphone flagship massive recall, the tech giant pulls out their color strategy.

This may have been the reason why Samsung, on the other hand, plans to strike back with a glossy latest version of its Galaxy S7. Picking up the idea that glossy black is the new black was found a huge possibility according to Gordon Gottsegen´s report on CNET.

Moreover, he also cited that the jet black iPhone 7 is pretty close to Samsung Note 7´s Onyx black hue. If Samsung pursues the glossy black notwithstanding the texture difference, the plate would still be susceptible to scratch, and fingerprint, a similar problem to iPhone 7.

Meanwhile, the Coral Blue version of S7 is currently surpassing the daily overall unit sales of iPhone 7 with over 5000 difference. Although smartphone usage charts do not represent direct sales data, based on an observation made by mobile engagement platforms like Localytics reports indicate the trend of adoption.

Since September this year, iPhone 7 sales drop with 25%. A data of decreasing mobile app usage on certain smartphones could be translated to fewer owners of those handsets. With iPhone´s sales percentage dropping, Samsung makes the perfect timing of releasing a newer version.

The bigger question, with the massive recall of Samsung S7 that still hasn´t moved many of its discourages users, will the color upgrade be enough to win customers back?
