Popular journalist Lisa Ling is a mom for the first time.
The 39-year-old "Our America" host gave birth to a baby girl Friday, March. 8, according to reports from E!News. This is the first child of Ling with her husband of five years, physician and biotech film president Paul Song.
"Lisa and Jett are resting comfortably," E! News quoted the baby announcement on OWN. "The proud parents are enjoying the first day of parenthood and are looking forward to bringing their daughter home."
Ling, who experienced a miscarriage earlier in 2010, announced her pregnancy on Anderson Cooper's talk show in October 2012.
During a chat with Access Hollywood Live, Ling talked about her smooth and trouble-free pregnancy.
"I've been so lucky - I have felt completely normal this entire time. Other than the fact that I feel like I'm getting this big gut, I didn't have any morning sickness or anything," the proud mom-to-be had said. "So, I've been very, very lucky. I've just been trying to be very, very cautious about everything... with diet, with exercise."
However, during a chat with People magazine, Ling, who has been involved in many heroic activities around the globe, revealed her fear of giving birth and taking care of her baby.
"I'm really excited but more nervous than anything," six-month pregnant Ling told People magazine. "I'm nervous about all of it. I'm nervous about how my life is going to completely change. I'm nervous about how I'm going to actually carry the baby. I'm nervous about changing diapers. I'm not someone who likes to be nervous. I'm someone who is always in control."
Ling, who started her career as a teen, is widely known as a host of National Geographic Explorer, co-host of ABC's "The View" and special correspondent for "The Oprah Winfrey Show".
