"Telltale's Batman" game series has managed to remain novel through its first three episodes that are released. The series seems to be efficient in tackling a very familiar territory in its own unique way. The gamers will get to control a Batman based on the choices they've made in the game.
There are other characters like the Penguin, Harvey Dent, and Catwoman who are all very different from other takes on the Dark Knight. The "Telltale's Batman" also portrays a very different Gotham City which has a history that is largely its own. The fourth episode of "Telltale's Batman" called "Guardian of Gotham," continues this trend with the introduction of a compelling new take on the Joker.
However, it should be noted that the rest of the series doesn't stand up to the expectations set by the series as a whole. "Guardian of Gotham" in "Telltale's Batman" takes place immediately after the end of episode three. In this, Bruce is condemned to Arkham Asylum after his drug-induced attack on Oswald Cobblepot. Bruce essentially finds himself being a target and everyone around including the patients and the orderlies seem to be against him, reported The Verge.
In "Telltale's Batman: Guardian of Gotham," the only person who comes to his aid is a creepy patient known only as John Doe. This patient does not reveal himself clearly. But you need not be an expert to recognize the green hair and hideous smile, reported The Polygon.
In "Telltale's Batman: Guardian of Gotham," the Joker is in his formative state before becoming the menace and the force of all the chaos that we all know. He's essentially a giant, scary question mark. At the same time, one can clearly see the core of the character.
That pretty much sums up the best part of "Telltale's Batman: Guardian of Gotham." The rest of the episode does not feel that loaded and seems much more insubstantial. The Joker being the only help, does Batman really need this kind of a service?
There are few other interesting things like a dark and disturbing investigation scene involving an abused young child. Also, Batman is ultimately forced to deal with the possibility that his huge arsenal of gadgets can be hacked. "Telltale's Batman: Guardian of Gotham" helps in the character building of Two-Face and Gordon. The end of the episode is rather anticlimactic. "Guardian of Gotham" is available now on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, iOS, Android, and PC.
