If drinking medicine when we get sick makes us feel bad, trying to swallow a pill makes it even worse - not just for kids but also for adults. For many years, many people, young and old have struggled taking medicine in tablet or capsule form. But now with Pill Glide Swallowing pills will be easier and enjoyable.
According to CNN, a new study published in Pediatrics may have solved this problem with the use of a flavored spray call Pill Glide. Dr. Catherine Tuleu, a pharmaceuticals researcher, say that on research they conducted at Great Ormond Street Hospital, the use of the spray caused a great decrease in the difficulty of taking medicines. In fact, the kids who were part of the research enjoyed changing the flavors of the spray.
FlavorX who made the flavored spray called Pill Glide provided the sprays used for the research. It was administered by spraying it into the mouth to provide lubrication and flavor making the pill easier to swallow. Pill Glide comes in five flavors: peach, grape, strawberry, bubble gum and orange with strawberry being the favorite of the subjects. The researchers said that having different characters is a good thing because it prevents the feeling of taking the medicines from being routinary.
However, according to Scott-Jupp, the trial was subtle and limited to only a few kids in a specialized clinic and therefore needs more observation before recommending it across the board. With that being said, Dr. Tuleu recognizes the limitations of the study they conducted and is willing to further the test, aiming to try it to larger groups and to subjects not familiar with swallowing pills yet.
