Holly Madison is more than happy with her daughter's unusual name, despite all the criticisms.
"The Girls Next Door" star became a first time mother Tuesday, March 5. Her baby girl with boyfriend Pasquale Rotella weighed 7 pounds and 2 ounces at birth.
The new mom has been under criticism since she revealed her daughter's unusual name - Rainbow Aurora Rotella.
"I wanted to give my daughter a unique name," the Playboy model told E!News.
She definitely had a reason in choosing the name.
"Growing up, there was a girl in my school named Rainbow and I was so envious of that name. I thought it was so pretty and unique!" she added.
The name invited severe criticism from different corners of the country.
"Rainbow is retarded it's a baby !!! Who names their baby rainbow??!!!"" one of the messages that appeared on Twitter, read.
"Candy" would have been a little better (for the child's sake) and a name that would be less made fun of when she is in school. Not hating, but just saying," another one added.
The new mom came forward defending her decision on her blog, striking back at the "smug haters", and assuring that her daughter will not be "traumatized" for the unusual name.
"I want my daughter to be proud of who she is and learn to speak up and stand up for herself at a young age," she wrote. "I spent most of my life being a people-pleaser who worried about what other people thought or thought was cool and I don't want that for her. I couldn't be more blessed to have such a perfect daughter and have never been happier than I am now!"
Celebrating the unique name, the proud mom posted a photo showing her fingers painted with rainbow colors.
"I got my nails done Rainbow colors to celebrate my new daughter's name!" she wrote.
