There is no doubt that the science fiction film, "Transformers," where cars transform to live robots, is one of the most anticipated films that the public is looking forward to seeing again, and it seems that a sequel will soon be in the works.
According to Enstars, amidst the rumors that Michael Bay had moved on from the franchise, an official writer and "Transformers" star, Mark Wahlberg, confirmed that he is still on board. The writing team of "Transformers 5" has been working hard on penning the script so by the time Bay is done with his current project, "Benghazi," they can start the production of the franchise's next sequel.
Since the trailer for "13 Hours: The Soldiers of Benghazi" has been released, more likely, Bay will soon be spotted in the director's chair of "Transformers 5," according Ecumenical News.
An earlier report from IGN revealed that Paramount assembled an experienced group of writers to chart out the future of the "Transformers" film series under the guidance of Akiva Goldsman. Steven DeKnight is among the members of the team, and while he cannot disclose his knowledge of the upcoming flick, he shared his experience with the team.
"I can't say what we plotted out, but it was all very exciting and in the next few months we'll see what moves forward and what doesn't move forward. But it was a fantastic experience." DeKnight said. "One of the best experiences of that was when Steven Spielberg popped by one afternoon to just sit and talk and hear what we were working on. Everybody was about to throw up, they were so excited."
According to Ecumenical News, the "Transformers" writing team is made up of brilliant and creative mind with the inclusion of high-caliber writers like Robert Kirkman ("The Walking Dead), Art Marcum ("Iron Man") and Matt Holloway, to name a few.
While the writers kept mum on their works, there were speculations that the Autobot's beloved leader, Optimus Prime, will soon face his demise and the film will introduce Ultra Magnus and Unicron. According to Ecumenical News, they are not sure how the rumors started, however the animated "Transformers" movie is suggesting that with Unicron's arrival, Optimus has to perish at the hands of Megatron/Galvatron.
According to Entertainment Weekly, "Transformers 5" is aiming for a 2017 release. In a Hasbro earning conference call on April 20, CEO Brian Goldner confirmed this. "We think there are any number of stories to be told from the brand that has been around for 30 years with amazing canon and mythology. We would expect the sequel to the Transformers movie to happen in 2017," Goldner said.
