"Code Geass" has just celebrated its 10th birthday through a special event last Sunday, Nov. 27. The 10th year anniversary event became extra special with Sunrise's outstanding announcement of its plans for its franchise, giving the fans an exciting treat. Sunrise has just confirmed that they will soon produce the next sequel of "Code Geass." Aside from the next sequel, "Code Geass" will also have a three-part compilation anime film series.
In the recently concluded 10th year anniversary event of "Code Geass," Sunrise announced that the third sequel will be titled "Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch" which is also translated as "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection." Sunrise also introduced a teaser video featuring Suzaku Kururugi, Jeremiah, Kallen and several other characters.
The upcoming sequel "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection" will have a story which is set several years after the "Zero Requiem" plan of Lelouch. Unfortunately, Sunrise did not unveil the format for this upcoming sequel.
Aside from the new sequel, Sunrise also announced its plan to do the three-part anime film series for "Code Geass." This three-part film series will feature a recap of all 50 episodes from the original "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion" series and the sequel "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2."
Although the three-part anime film series will have recaps, Sunrise announced that they will also add fresh scenes in the film. According to Anime News Network, all the cast will be recording again their lines for the new three-part anime film series.
Furthermore, Sunrise has announced that the first film of the three-part anime film series of "Code Geass" will be released in 2017. "Code Geass" fans should mark their calendars now and watch out for more updates in our next article.
Meanwhile, fans of "Code Geass" can recall that Lelouch has already died in the previous sequel. Lelouch opted to utilize his death to bring peace among the superpowers of the world. Now that Sunrise has confirmed its plan to release a third sequel, it would be interesting to know how the studio will bring back to life the beloved protagonist. As the title of the third sequel suggests, fans can expect a resurrection in the new sequel. "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection" is yet to unveil how Lelouch will return to the series.
