Eva Amurri Reveals Miscarriage of Second Pregnancy: 'Just Like That, It Was All Over'

Eva Amurri suffered a miscarriage during her second pregnancy. In an effort to simultaneously share her experience and lighten the load brought about by the loss, the wife of Kyle Martino chose to write about her situation and hopefully, enlighten the public on the pain and grief of women who suffer from a miscarriage.

In her blog, "Happily Eva After," Amurri chose to open up about the devastating loss she and her family suffered. In the post, titled "Little Angel," she dubbed the loss as "sad news," saying that the loss of her second child had brought a lot of heartache for her, husband Martino and daughter Marlowe. Amurri further said that her aim in sharing her story is to serve as a "light for people going through similar circumstances." She also wrote the entry to remind herself and those suffering from a similar fate that they should not be ashamed of their pain and to allow their loved ones to lend their support to them.

"A couple of days ago, the baby I was carrying passed away," Amurri wrote. She added, "I was nine weeks pregnant." She went on to say that the news of having a second child with an age so close to their first born both thrilled and excited her and Martino. While the possibility of handling kids who will be both under two years old by then frightened the couple, they were more eager to break the news to their daughter and to welcome the second baby. Apart from sharing the news with Marlowe, the two also disclosed their pregnancy with their close friends and family members.

Sharing that she and her husband visited the doctor regularly to check on the baby's health, learning that their second child exhibited such promising growth bolstered their enthusiasm in giving out more details to their close circle. The happiness and excitement did not last long though.

"At my next visit for a routine ultrasound, however, the baby's heart was no longer beating," Amurri wrote. She went on to share, "Just like that, it was all over." Explaining the reason her second child passed away, she wrote, "My doctor told me that this was most likely a case of there being an underlying major developmental problem with the fetus, and that it had simply stopped growing." Apart from the heartbreak she experienced after learning that she lost her baby, Amurri also mourns the fact that the situation is very common.

Despite the loss, Amurri remains optimistic that she and her family will move on from the tragedy. With the help of their friends and family, she shared that the recovery may be painful but will not be impossible. She concluded, "And while it will take time for me to make peace with that fact, it gives me a lot of solace knowing that I told- that I have shared its existence with you, that it mattered, and that we loved it. And that will have to do."
