Shannon Miller is going to have a girl this time.
The Olympic gymnastic champion, who is expecting her second child with husband John Falconetti, revealed the gender of her baby on The Doctors, Wednesday, March 13, People magazine reported.
After legally separating with her first husband Christopher B. Phillips in 2006, Miller announced her engagement with John Falconetti. The couple tied the knot in 2008. The 35-year-old gold medal gymnast confirmed expecting a second child with Falconetti in January 2013. The baby is due in summer. The new addition will be joining the couple's 3-year-old son, Rocco.
Miller's second pregnancy comes two years after she underwent a surgery to remove a malignant tumor in the ovary. Miller, who was planning a second baby in 2011, was shocked to find out that she had a rare form of ovarian cancer. Miller waited almost one year after the treatment to fulfill her dream of having a second child.
"My oncologist said at least a year to wait before even trying. It really gave us a chance to appreciate everything we already had. We got a the green light to start trying and we are now five and a half months along," People magazine quoted the mother-to-be as saying.
During the chat, Miller also expressed her happiness to get a girl after a boy.
"If we get a boy we have lots of clothes and toys, and I think we feel like we have the boy thing down at this point," she added. "If we get a girl, I'm going to be a little intimidated but it's going to be fantastic. I think Rocco wants a girl. It'll be the first girl grandchild on my side of the family."
Miller, who started learning gymnastics at the age of 5, has won a total of 16 World Championships and Olympic medals between 1991 and 1996.
