In Houston, a 15-year-old boy is asking to help find his open heart surgery; it will be the fourth one. He is Jose Tovar a member of High School Ram Band. He was diagnosed with an atrioventricular canal defect. His first surgery happened when he was still three months old.
According to Chron, the second surgery happened to Tovar when he was a year old and the third one was when he was 4 years old. After the surgery, Tovar was growing up to a healthy boy, just until this year.
Tovar wrote in the GoFundMe account that during the marching season, he felt exhausted and felt his heart beat harder that the ordinary. The next day Tovar decides to tell his parents to bring him to the hospital. And after all the procedures and testing, the doctor decided that the only way will be an open-heart transplant.
The family of Tovar could not afford the heart surgery. So Tovar set up an account to the GoFundMe in hopes of raising funds and somehow minimize the financial burden by the surgery. They successfully raised more than $14,000 with the help of 191 people.
The family did some effort to add to the raised funds. They did a partnership with The Phoenix on Westheimer for a benefit concert and an auction. The benefit concert and auction will feature the singer, songwriter Pete Simple and the band Fake Midget.
The Waltrip community also helps in raising the funds and gathers their entire band member and has promoted wellness effort al throughout their social media accounts. The Waltrip Ram Band shared on their Instagram page the caption, "Family and friends, this is one of our own in need right now."
They also added that every bit of help would count to help Jose on getting his surgery done, encouraging all to help him to save his precious life. Share your thought on the bravery shown by Jose Tovar in the comment section.
