Louis Picker is an immunology researcher from thirty years. The 59 years old is now about to launch a successful experiment, which is the launch of human trials for HIV cure.
HIV Aids has become a big problem in America due to the rise in gay relationships in particular. Over the years, there have been successful drugs that have enabled people with Aids to live longer and healthier comparatively, however till date; no successful vaccine has been developed to cater the alarming issue, according to the Newsweek.
However, the vaccine is very expensive regarding cost and technology required, which has become a problem for Louis. To get the grants accepted and approved, the proposal maker has to perform a series of experiments and enough evidence in the laboratory to show his competent idea, so the authorities know their money will not get to waste, which is a challenge for Louis.
A single fail can mean his entire hard work going down the drain, which is building a lot of pressure on him. His wife says that he stays worried and tensed most of the time. The continuous process of experimenting back to back has started to wear him out, making him depressed.
She further says that Picker feels very guilty that he is not able to give his house much time. However, his wife, Beresford, is a calm woman who is determined to keep his feet on the ground and strengthen his aims, what she has been doing for the previous eight years.
Louis also has an Aids orphaned son Thabo, whom he adopted back in Johannesburg, where he met his wife as well. Thabo says that he is hundred percent sure that Louis is going to stop Aids. Picker's objectives are strong, and his aim is determined. Furthermore, he has a very supportive family which is a constant motivation.
