A new documentary about the late Prince entitled "Prince: R U Listening" will be released this 2017. The documentary is said to feature his friends like Billy Idol, Bono, Mick Jagger, Lenny Kravitz, Sheila E., Dez Dickerson, and many more.
Billboard reported that "Prince: R U Listening?" will be focusing on the early years of Prince and his success. People who played with him, as well as his friends and family, will be interviewed for "Prince: R U Listening?"
Dez Dickerson, who joined the band of Prince touring back in 1979 and left the group after the tour, will be one of those interviewed as well as André Cymone, who played the bass in the teenage band of Prince called Grande Central. Cymone toured with Prince from the 70s until 1981.
Accordingly, producer Michael Kirk will be directing "Prince: R U Listening?" and the documentary will be produced by 13 Films. Ascot Elite Entertainment Group announced the newest details about "Prince: R U Listening?" as they have secured the rights to the titles for Europe and German-speaking countries. It is unclear if the 2017 slated release is also applicable in the United States as there has been no confirmation about this yet, Rolling Stone reported.
It is possible that "Prince: R U Listening?" will be released sometime in April in time for the death anniversary of the legendary musician. On April 2017, a four-day "Celebration 2017" event will be held at his estate that was turned into a museum. The stated is located in Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The tours will be assisted and performances from bands like Revolution, 3RDEYEGIRL, New Power Generation, Morris Day and The Time, will be shown.
The "Celebration 2017" will be taking place from April 20 to April 23.
