Katy Perry was honored during this year's UNICEF Snowflake Ball in New York City and the singer talked about her boyfriend, Orlando Bloom, having a kind heart. During the event, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton also made a rare appearance in order to support the "Roar" singer.
Katy Perry has been an ambassador for UNICEF since 2013 and E! News caught up with her at the red carpet. Katy Perry recently sparked engagement rumors as she was seen wearing a huge ring while she was out in New York City with Orlando Bloom. Orlando Bloom was the recipient of the same award, the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award, recently given to her by UNICEF this year and she gushed about the actor saying that he has the "most kind heart ever." Katy Perry, via UNICEF, recently participated in field visits to Vietnam and Madagascar as well as raised more than $1 million for the organization via her Prismatic World Tour.
More on her connection with UNICEF, Katy Perry shared with the publication, "With UNICEF, I go on the field and I'm in those situations, and I'm with those kids and I'm in the poverty. I'm in the helplessness. I'm in the sadness. I feel it. I absorb it so much." She added that she then tries to take her light not only on social media but also in any way she could influence others in order to help those in need and in order to bring awareness.
As for the award from UNICEF, Katy Perry said that she felt like she should not be getting an award this early but she believes it is a symbol and a sign for her to always continue helping others. She also thinks that the award is a reminder that she has to be on the field so as to do something that matters.
More on Hillary Clinton supporting Katy Perry, Vanity Fair reported that the former Secretary of State was with Katy Perry at her table alongside Orlando Bloom and Allison Williams. Hillary Clinton also presented the award to Katy Perry herself. This marks the second official appearance of Hillary Clinton since her loss from Donald Trump during the recently-concluded presidential elections.
Hillary Clinton gave a speech about Katy Perry saying that the singer is someone who has the spirit, energy, and compassion that is tantamount to what Audrey Hepburn did for UNICEF. She also said that Katy Perry has a powerful voice and creative lyrics reminding everyone to get back up when they get knocked down. Hillary Clinton continued to praise Katy Perry for her commitment to the causes she believes in and how deeply she cares about the world being a better place.
