This surprise marriage proposal of a kindergarten teacher is one for the books. Torrie Buehne, the-24-year-old teacher who works at Fenton's Stanton Elementary, thought that there was an assembly of students because she was getting an award. Turns out, her boyfriend was going to propose to her and it happened with the help of her students.
Torrie Buehne was told by the school principal that she was getting an award during an assembly. The school did have an event that day as it was giving funds raised for first responders in the emergency service.
"I was overjoyed because I do love my kids and I was excited," she said when she learned of what she thought would take place, according to KSDK. "But I never imagined what was actually going to happen," she added.
When the assembly was almost done, the principal took the mic for her announcement. She said that some teachers were going to get a "Love Is The Key" award for their service. She asked for Torrie Buehne first and she was told to sit on a chair in the middle of the assembly while a short video clip about her ran.
In it, her students talked about love, which the teacher said was thoughtful and sweet. But Torrie Buehne soon got wind of what was happening when a photo montage of her and boyfriend, Brett Wolf, appeared. According to Huffington Post, the video ended with the students urging their beloved kindergarten teacher to say yes to her boyfriend.
At this time, Brett Wolf was walking towards his future bride with a ring on hand, along with Torrie Buehne's family. "I had never felt more love in my entire life," she wrote via How He Asked. "My family, my school family, and my future family were all a part of this special day."
The couple met in college in 2013 but did not realize that they have been neighbors all their lives. The proposal took place last Oct. 26. Watch how it went down in the video below.
