Madeline Stuart Teen Model With Down Syndrome To Debut At New York Fashion Week

Brisbane teen model Madeline Stuart, who was born with Down syndrome, is already becoming such an inspiration to many when she didn't let her condition get in the way of her dreams.

Now, Maddy, 18 years old, is set to make history by gracing the catwalk of the ultimate modeling gig: New York Fashion Week, according to Sydney Morning Herald. She is set to join other supermodels in this event that fashion mavens and experts look forward to every year.

The Australian teen made the announcement on her Instagram account by posting a photo of the campaign for FTL Moda, an American fashion label which has enlisted her as one of their spokespeople.

FTL MODA also announced Maddy's participation on their Facebook page, saying, "It is with the utmost joy and pride that we announce Madeline Stuart's participation in #FTLModa #NYFW #SS2016 presentation. Beautiful Madeline will brighten up the runway at the #VanderbiltHall on September 13th, 2015. Stay tuned and RSVP.

US Weekly reported that not only is Maddy headlining the FTL campaign, she's also the model for EverMaya, an accessories label. The company is going to release a handbag line in her name and in support of the National Down's Syndrome Society. Maddy has also signed a contract with Activewear line, the news outlet confirmed.

Even with her condition, Maddy, who also has to contend with heart problems, presses on with positivity and enthusiasm for what she loves to do. "There is absolutely nothing about Madeline that projects "disability," said Damian Graybelle, EverMaya's head honcho, according to Daily Mail Australia.

"Madeline is not simply a role model for people with disabilities, she is a role model for anyone that wants to better themselves, and get more out of life," Graybelle added.

"We will only continue doing this as long as Maddy is happy doing this. It's only what makes Maddy happy that's important," Maddy's mother Roseanna said in an interview with Cosmopolitan.

Roseanna also said now that Maddy is getting professional treatment, it's likely she won't stop modeling. The mother admires her daughter's love for herself, which transcends to how she treats people gravitate to her.

"I mean, I tell her every day how great she is, but she truly believes it," she said. "I will never let anyone be negative toward Madeline. She doesn't understand what discrimination is."
