The lead actress of "The Vampire Diaries" for the previous six seasons had already announced her departure from the popular CW drama. However, her decision did not hinder her victory in winning the Choice TV Actress Sci-Fi/Fantasy Award at the recently concluded Teen Choice Awards.
According to CinemaBlend, Nina Dobrev, who played Elena Gilbert in the six-season run, had nothing but nice things to say about the show. She started her acceptance speech with a prank by wearing a false vampire teeth while trying to speak to lighten up the audience. She then removed it, saying that she doesn't need it anymore. She then went on with her heartfelt message of gratitude.
"So, change. It's a scary word, or I used to think that, because it meant new beginnings. New beginnings with a future that was unknown," Dobrev said. "But change is necessary - necessary for you to grow and and to learn and to better yourself, because everything in life comes to an end.. because just like Elena, I started the show as a young girl, and together we grew up. We've grown up, and over the last six years, we've become women."
She stressed that those six years she spent on the show were incredible and thank the audience for their support. "Change is coming, so hold on and enjoy the ride," Nina said as she ends her speech.
As for "The Vampire Diaries" season 6, now that Elena is gone, the show will focus more on brothers, Damon and Stefan, CinemaBlend has learned.
According to "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer, Caroline Dries, Damon would be "drinking himself crazy" as he grieves for the love of his life in the upcoming season, CrossMap has learned.
While many want to see Damon and Bonnie together, executive producer Julie Plec hinted that the two characters might end up together, but, at the moment, Damon has to figure out his life without Elena first.
The show has been hard on its characters when it comes to finding true love, so in season 7, Stefan and Caroline's relationship will be tried. According to Plec, this "curveball" will be revealed on the sixth or seventh episode of the season.
As per Melty, the death of Caroline's mom in season 6 triggered her to ignore her humanity switch and do very unCaroline-things.
"Caroline's going to go through a lot this season that I'm not even going to attempt to spoil but it's going to be a pretty massive storyline that will be pretty bananas, but awesome," Plec said.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will premiere on October 8 at 8:00 pm ET.
