Nokia Re-Entry To Smartphone Market Now Official; “Nokia-Branded” Smartphones, Tablets Ready For First Half Of 2017

Nokia has made it official: The Finnish Company that once dominated the mobile communications market is now making its way again in the Smartphone industry. Apparently, rumors on Nokia's D1C device is slowly gaining legitimacy, alongside updating its website with new phone models which will they will be highlighting next year.

Nokia's announcement isn't too hard to believe. After they failed to break new grounds with Microsoft and the not so warm appreciation of their Windows Phone lineup, the company is now in the hands of HMD global oy, a company exclusively created to focus on giving "Nokia-branded feature phones, Smartphones and tablets" a new spark in the market. In turn, HMD will have full control on the sale, marketing and distribution of future Nokia devices, as well as access to the "world-leading device manufacturing, supply chain and engineering capabilities" of Foxconn subsidiary, FIH Mobile Limited.

The entry of HMD, as PR Newswire0 wrote, also pushed for the decision to shift to the Android Operating System. The result will be "uniting one of the world's iconic mobile brands" with one of the two leading "mobile software and app development community." Arto Nummela, Chief Executive Officer of HMD global said that they will be focusing their attention on developing "a unified range" of devices that they know "will resonate with consumers". He likewise emphasized Nokia as a global brand is now with a company with "extensive experience in sales and marketing."

The partnership will push Nokia-branded Smartphones running on Android to be available in the first half of 2017 together with Nokia "feature phones", said The Verge. Its return will eventually resurrect Nokia as a prime player in the Smartphone industry and should provide a worthy competition against Apple, as well as other Android-powered names like Samsung, Google and LG, among others. It will be a treat to see Nokia and its fans out in the market once the first wave of devices rolls out.
