The video game version of "Sausage Party" could just be right around the corner with the recent announcement of Annapurna pictures new division called Annapurna Interactive. Annapurna Interactive is already in motion with several deals already in development.
Annapurna Pictures is the brainchild of Megan Ellison who's the daughter of oracle chairman billionaire Larry Ellison. Annapurna Pictures specializes not only in movies but also in television production as well as finance. Annapurna Pictures biggest blockbuster to date is the criminal black comedy "American Hustle" with 251.1 million followed by the adult comedy film "Sausage Party" with $139.9 million and the political action thriller "Zero Dark Thirty" with $138.7 million based on Box Office Mojo.
Annapurna Interactive's main goal is to develop person emotional and original games that will push the boundaries of interactive content, making the video game version of "Sausage Party" a little farfetched but the entertainment industry is also very unpredictable. Megan Ellison states that "The artistry and diversity of interactive storytelling are exciting, and we look forward to exploring the limitless possibilities in gaming," and "we want to empower artists across this medium to make Annapurna Interactive their home, and I believe we've assembled the perfect team to make that happen." The 30 -year old producer also shared her passion for video games and the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is considered as her favorite, according to Variety.
Annapurna interactive has currently two games scheduled for spring release. "Gorogoa" which is a hand-illustrated story suspended inside a puzzle that requires the player to move panels on a grid as though arranging framed drawings on a wall. "What Remains of Edith Finch by Giant Sparrow which is about the of the Finch family. Both games looked gorgeous and feature unique gameplays and with Megan Ellison's team of veteran developers, it won't be long before Annapurna Interactive comes up with a blockbuster in the video game department.
