Parenting is one hell of a job. The exhaustion, arguments, routines, and problem — all are difficult to keep up with. But parenting is even harder for same-sex couples. They have to go through the process of adoption and registration before formally becoming a parent.
According to Baptist Press, children in Ontario, Canada can have up to four parents, but none of the parents must be the biological parent. The bill known as All Families are Equal Act states that four adults who agree to have a child through a surrogate mother or an artificial insemination will be legal parents of the child and they have to sign a simple contract of co-parenting before the child is conceived.
The bill, which was passed on Nov. 29, contradicted the Children's Law Reform Act and the Vital Statistics Act to use gender neutral terminology where possible, as per the Attorney General's office.
Campaign Life Coalition president Jim Hughes considered the bill an attack on the family. He said that mothers and fathers are parts of the societal norm and this bill is ridiculing it. Many members of the legislature skipped the vote, most were from Progressive Conservative Party, Liberal Party Leader Kathleen Wynne and two of its Catholic members were also absent.
Progressive Conservative Party leader Patrick Brown was accused of influencing party members. He allegedly asked them to vote in favor or remain absent from the legislature. Brown's move was criticized by Jeff Gunarson, the vice president of Campaign Life Coalition. Gunarson said that Brown's persuasion is against the Democratic process and constituents must be allowed to vote on their consent.
Ontario's attorney general Yasir Naqvi, however, welcomed the bill and considered it a safety for children whether they have parents from LGBT or whether they are straight. World.Wng also shared the news and stated that in August, New York Court of Appeals redefined parenthood after some cases, including same-sex couples as legal parents.
