Health Budget Under Pressure After Overdosage And Inspections Rise

Ottawa Public Health is making progress with its budget. The numbers rose at the board meeting held last Monday night. Right now, majority of the cities are constrained fiscally as per the report sent to the board and through the reviews of programs and administration, the budget costs have been tried to control.

$59.7 million is the budget draft allocated for the year 2017 by the organization, with the rise in the funds of Ottawa City and the funds of provinces. There is 1.5% overall increase from 2016. All these stats were reviewed by The Metro News.

The organization is still facing pressures despite this increase as per report notes, such as a crisis of overdose, strict inspection of health, fentanyl which is country wide and demands the celebration of the City's 2017. Such problems have emerged in the past few months which have raised doubts about public health security in Ottawa.

A reporter said that there had been a significant increase in the overdose of drugs and at a national and provincial level, an emergency crisis of public health is being caused by the deaths occurring due to the overdose. Populations which are vulnerable must be reached through enhanced type of outreach, sharing of data, campaigns for awareness and Naloxone kits distribution.

The organizational staff is also being put under immense pressure due to the changes in the inspection of public health. The investigations of the rabies reports are to be done in a 24-hour time span as per report notes and in 2016, 30% more calls were received by the OPH.

Five new inspectors of public health would be assigned by the OPG to meet the requirements of filling the positions in the administration which are vacant. Celebrations of 2017 is also a matter of concern just like the budget of the board of police. Access $300,000 could be the extra demand as calculated by the Public Health.
