Halifax Consumed In Gun Violence: Demand For Medical Health Services Surge

In Halifax, gun violence must be treated as emergency of public health, this is the demand of the African Nova Scotian Baptist Association's churches.

African United Baptist Association, in a press release, demanded a team that is culturally competent clinicians of mental health for the community support and for the families who got effected because of the violence.

According to The CBC News, on Monday evening's meeting that was organized by the association from 19 churches about 150 people gathered to discuss the deaths by guns held in series, on 21 Nov, the most recent one happened.

There have been a number disproportionate of homicides reported in Halifax in which seven out of 12 men who died in the recent year were African Nova Scotian. Police confirms relativeness in some of these homicides. Association in their release said that the lack in the coordinating response to the crisis with a planned approach formed by the officials elected and the providers of the health care is deeply saddening,

The Department of Public Health and Justice, Department of Wellness and Health must work collectively to form a strategy of violence prevention, called the association. For many, the meeting was an emotional one and Raymond Sheppard was seen to be utterly disturbed because of the casualties that transpired during these rather malevolent schemes.

He said that he thinks there were many young, seniors, not young people and that gave important input and then comes the part for action. A strategy must be devised to provide help in easing the pain. Every incident of violence can't be stopped while being a community. It's almost impossible. If one brother is saved from being hurt by the other with the help of interventions or whatever there is then it's possible. Another meeting will be devised by the association on Dec 12.
