‘Last Tango In Paris’ Rape Scene Revelation Between Maria Schneider, Marlon Brando Shocks Hollywood, All Copies Of The Film To Be Destroyed?

The1972 film, "Last Tango in Paris" by Italian filmmaker, Bernardo Bertolucci has been surrounded by controversy ever since it was first introduced 44 years ago due to its explicit portrayal of sex and nudity. However, the latest revelation about the much-talked about rape scene between Marlon Brando and then just 19-year old Maria Schneider has aroused anger and aversion among many.

As published in Variety, a 2013 video interview with Bertolucci reveals that Schneider has no idea that a rape scene will happen when they shot it. He further adds that he and Marlon Brando conspired behind Schneider's back because they want to elicit a raw and realistic reaction from her. The film was done many years ago and Schneider died in 2011, yet the admission from Bertolucci draws a strong negative reaction as if the thing happened just yesterday.

Though Bertolucci admits he felt guilty about doing that to Schneider, that did not spare him from the wrath of disgusted netizens that include a number of Hollywood celebrities. Jessica Chastain said in a Twitter post that the news made her sick which was reiterated by Evan Rachel Wood.

The "Westworld" star even said that the heartbreaking revelation made her view Brando and Bertolucci as sick individuals. Both Anna Kendrick and Chris Evans also expressed rage over the incident.

Some demand justice for Schneider who reportedly suffered from depression and drug addiction after doing the movie. Some of the suggestions include prosecution for Bertolucci or denouncement of all the awards he received in the course of his career. Meanwhile, a Jakarta Post article reports a reaction from Jenna Fischer which said that all copies of 'Last Tango in Paris" should be destroyed.

What is your stand on this issue about a non-consensual scene involving Maria Schneider, Marlon Brando and Bernardo Bertolucci for 'Last Tango in Paris?"
