Along with Disney's latest live-action movie trends came a musical way back from 1977, "Pete's Dragon". Directed by David Lowery, the House of Mouse was able to revive a long-forgotten story and even making it rich and soulful that is good for family entertainment.
According to The Guardian,"Pete's Dragon" came out to be a pleasant surprise. The orphan boy and his dragon friend materialized into a story that shows the true meaning of compassion, partnered with a great production is a real treat for the whole family all together.
The script of the movie was largely influenced by "E.T." and "Kingkong" while still maintaining the Disney signature of it being for the family. The boy named Pete, becomes an orphan because of a car accident that kills both his parents, meets a dragon with green fur who saves his life. Pete lived in the wilderness for six years with his green dragon friend whom he named Elliot until such time when a logging crew came.
Pete was forced to live in a lumber town with a kind forest ranger named Grace, her boyfriend Jack and his daughter Natalie. Pete then adapts to normal life but frequently mentions his friend Elliot (green furred dragon) who was believed by Grace's to be true.
As reported by Time, "Pete's Dragon" is truly amazing to watch because it shows the beauty of the untouched nature and numerous striking images that would leave viewers wanting to see more. The CGI dragon in itself is so majestic that every time it soars even without Pete shouts freedom high above the skies.
Elliot the dragon is the key to the movie's modernization from its 1977 original. In the recent remake of the movie, the dragon exceeds to audience expectation because it does not just look real, it also sounds real.
