A new trailer for Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding" was released during The Game Awards, and has since left fans dumbfounded and confused as to what it's trying to convey.
The trailer saw Guillermo del Toro, the director of "Pan's Labyrinth," bringing an infant into an incubation chamber. He's doing this while hiding from a military power headed by an unnamed character, who will be the main antagonist of the series, according to Game Spot.
Over on Twitter, Kojima tweeted that fans should watch the trailer over and over again in order to look for clues, as he asserted that the trailer contains lots of "hints" and "misleads" that fans need to take note of. "How did You like our new DEATH STRANDING teaser? There're various hints (misleads) hidden so pls watch it to think as many time as you want," Kojima wrote.
In previous interviews, Kojima has said that the gameplay for "Death Stranding" will not be played with "sticks" (guns and other weapons) commonly found in other games. Rather, players will make use of "ropes."
"In [Death Stranding], I want people to be connected not through sticks, but through what would be the equivalent of ropes. But of course you will be able to use the sticks too," he said, according to IGN.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Mads Mikkelsen will play the villain. The actor is best known for his role in the psychological thriller series "Hannibal," which airs on NBC. He also has a role in the upcoming "Rogue One: The Star Wars Story."
Mikkelsen has expressed excitement at the chance to be able to work with Kojima for "Death Stranding," referring to the creator of "Metal Gear Solid" as a "master." He says, "(Kojima)'s the Kasparov of video games. He's such a visionary person. [Working on a video game] was just something I'd never crossed before, so it was a wonderful opportunity to dive into that world."
