Renae Whitehouse, a dispatcher from Houston, Texas, was having her regular shift for the day. But everything changed when she received a call from a birthing mother, Kioma. It was then when she had one of the most memorable calls in her life.
It was about 3 a.m. Thursday this week when Whitehouse received a call from a pregnant mother having contractions and is about to deliver her baby. "I answer the phone, and she tells me I'm in labor, and I could hear her in pain," Renae Whitehouse said in an interview.
Kioma, the mother, does not have anyone with her that time. But despite that, she was confident that everything would be okay as she seeks help from the authorities.
Whitehouse was able to talk to the laboring mom and assist her of what she will do while waiting for the medics to come. When the dispatcher learned from Kioma that a part of the baby's head is already out, she knew that the doctors would not make it on time, as posted by KTIC.
Whitehouse shared that at first, she thought she could just ask Kioma to stay calm and wait for the authorities to come and help her give birth to her baby. But after having many contractions, it is then the dispatcher realized that the authorities might not make it on time. Whitehouse tried to assist the birthing mom for them to stay safe especially the baby.
The call lasted for about eight minutes before the authorities reached Kioma's place. They found that through the assistance of Whitehouse, the mother was able to deliver the baby safely. The baby was beautiful, healthy and was named Kennedy Bennet.
After the birth of the Kioma, Whitehouse became so happy she cannot resist being teary eyed, as reported by ABC Action News. According to her, being a part of this beautiful experience has brought her an amazing feeling she will never forget in her entire life.
