The Sandy Hook Promise group has released a video that seems to tell the story of a budding friendship between two students in an American high school. However, it has gone viral not just because of the heartwarming story but also because of the twist revealed at the end, giving the viewer the goosebumps.
The hidden message has made the short film an internet success with over two million views three days after it was posted on YouTube. Its creator, the Sandy Hook Promise group, is composed of family members of the Sandy Hook School shooting. The success of the video has taken the campaign against gun violence into every smartphone, laptop, iPad and other gadgets the world over.
BBC said the December 14, 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre killed six adults and 20 children. The perpetrator is a 20-year old former student of the said school identified as Adam, Lanza.
"When you don't know what to look for or can't recognize what you are seeing, it can be easy to miss warning signs or dismiss them as unimportant," said Nicole Hockley from Sandy Hook Promise. Her son Dylan was among those who died in the school shooting.
US President Barack Obama stressed the importance of gun control as a result of the 2012 shooting but admitted three years about his frustration since the move to tighten gun restrictions met resistance from the US Congress who made every effort to block legislations against gun control.
Mirror said Lanza, who shot his own mother prior to the incident, had mental problems even at a young age. His father Peter Lanza said this was exhibited in Adam's "social awkwardness, the uncomfortable anxiety, unable to sleep, stress, unable to concentrate, having a hard time learning, the awkward walk, reduced eye contact."
WB News said 362 mass shootings have been reported in the US with 425 people killed. This is an increase to the 275 mass shootings in 2014 and 333 mass shootings in 2015. While Senator Hilary Clinton signified her support for the anti-gun movement, President-elect Donald Trump seemed to be pro-gun.
